Everything you need to know about Colic and Colic Remedies

Welcome to ColicRemedies.org

Your baby has cried incessantly for the last five hours and worried sick, you took your baby to the doctor. The doctor after examining your baby simply tells you that the baby is completely healthy but he suffers from colic and there's nothing he or she can do for your baby. The doctor may tell you that the baby will grow out of it at the age of three or four months and you should just wait it out.

This is simply not acceptable for most if not all parents and it shouldn't be so. There are many simple colic remedies that can help soothe your baby suffering from colic. You just have to be willing to try them all and see which one actually helps and alleviate the discomfort your baby is suffering from.

One of the many simple yet effective techniques is to create a constant motion for your baby. This can be as simple as rocking your baby in a baby swing gently or creating a swinging motion with your arms and shoulders while holding the baby. You can also walk your baby steadily or take the baby out for a car ride.

Another way to relieve your baby suffering from colic is to gently massage the baby's belly and back. This can ease the discomfort your baby is feeling and help him/her pass gas. Each baby responds to massage in various ways and it may not work at all for some but it's worth a try as it has shown to help some babies. Burping sometimes help alleviate baby suffering from colic so try to induce burping before, during and after feeding your baby.

You can also put warm water bottle or gently massage it around your baby's stomach. This will relax the intestines and help pass gas. Giving your baby a warm bath is an alternative method of this. Please make sure the water used in these scenarios is nowhere near hot.

Keep a strict eating schedule and do not overfeed as it can exacerbate the colic. If you are feeding a variety of diet for your baby, try eliminating gas-producing foods such as beans, spicy foods, cabbages, etc. Lactose intolerance is thought to be a cause of colic so you might consider eliminating it from your baby's diet. There are some over-the-counter colic-drops that can help as well. Before you change your baby's diet or using any type of supplements, consult with your doctor first.

There are no known cures for colic but you can try some of the remedies outlined above. Even though it can be frustrating and stressful dealing with colic, keep in mind that it is completely benign and something that your baby will eventually grow out of.
